Favorite Quote: “Perhaps one day, in a year or even in a century, you’ll turn up at my door and let me show you what the world has to offer.” – Klaus

In true Vampire Diaries tradition, and their way of adding more tension to it all, there is another dance, which causes confusion of dates yet again. What school has this many dances? Anyway, as always, Elena attends with Stefan on Caroline’s advice, with the 1920’s themed dance; which has all of Rebekah’s influence but none of her actual help.

So it seems that Esther is always one step ahead of everyone, but it comes to destroying the curse she has inflicted on her family. With the help of Alaric, and the possibly unknown assistance of Rebekah’s body for a while, Esther (now in her own body) conjures up the ultimate weapon for the ultimate vampire hunter. Esther’s real plan is to create a new more powerful original using Alaric and dark magic to bring down her children. Also with Alaric’s ring will make the remaining white oak stake indestructible.  With Alaric’s good nature he’s decided to look himself away until Esther’s expiration of her spell wears off. However, Esther is not content with Alaric not completing the change so she compels Bonnie somehow to force her blood on Alaric, which wakens the true monster.

There is a boundary spell placed around the school, keeping certain people such as Klaus from escaping, so that Esther has a chance for her plan. As well as gets Elena out, since it seems that ever important spell requires the blood of the doppelganger. This not only stirs up more things not only inside but also outside the boundary for all the parties involved. With the help of Bonnie and a little threatening from Klaus they are all able to stand together including Meredith (mostly like there because of Damon’s concern about Alaric not taking the herbs from Bonnie) as Alaric faces a hard decision in his now long life. Bonnie gets thanked for her help most of the time and all she has to say was that isn’t wasn’t for them, then for whom? Elena is now even more a ball of mixed emotions since Esther’s words about Jenna being at piece and now she really feels that she doesn’t have anyone anymore most of all Alaric who was taking care of Jeremy and herself since Jenna’s death but the sun on Stelena seems to rise a little bit again. Most likely Damon won’t be far behind to catch her again if Stefan slips up, or Elena really decides where her feelings lie.

The love triangles are very evident in this episode much like other episodes that contain dances. Bonnie, despite Jeremy’s return, has decided to move on and take a chance with someone new, and he thinks what she does is pretty amazing. Damon is always the best at interrupting some special moments when he’s all moody, and, well, things need to be taken care of that require Bonnie’s magic. Tyler is still jealous about Caroline’s possible relationship with Klaus, which is stirred up when they dance and Klaus again tries to offer Caroline the world. Tyler is still pretending to be the ever loyal fledgling to Klaus even though it might be just easier to let the cat out of the bag because it’s just causing more trouble either way. And Damon is still hurt from the trip to Denver, but despite it all he’s is on top of everything he can for the team. Damon even offers up some advice on the corsage for Elena, avoiding the pin prick and opting for a wrist one.
