In true 007 style, fans of the widely popular Jason Bourne films (The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum), will be given the opportunity to see if the franchise can extend beyond the involvement of its original star.
If the widespread positive response to the brand new trailer for The Bourne Legacy (featuring actor Jeremy Renner) is any indication of how the film will do, all signs are good. Rounded out with an all-star cast which includes Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Edward Norton and Rachael Weisz (who, incidentally, is married to the current reigning James Bond, actor Daniel Craig), Legacy has all the makings of a franchise solidifying film. Allen and Finney will be reprising their roles from prior Bourne films, alongside David Strathairn and Scott Glenn.
The outstanding performance of Matt Damon, combined with the flawlessly breakneck paced directing of Paul Greengrass, will surely be missed, but if Bourne fans are willing to let the story continue without them, The Bourne Legacy could become just that.
